Pre-B'nei Mitzvah and Post-B'nei Mitzvah

Pre-B'nei Mitzvah and Post B'nei Mitzvah learning on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30-6:30pm is where TBA's 6th- and 7th-graders meet to prepare for their B’eai Mitzvah as well as their future as they enter the world as young Jewish adults.

We not only prepare our learners for their B'nei Mitzvah but continue to guide them in their own Jewish journey.

Classes include (but are not limited to):

  • Hebrew Prayer
  • Trope (Cantillation)
  • Parshanut
    • This is a class where 6th and 7th graders learn how to unpack a Torah portion. In the second half of this class (Parshanut 2), each learner will work on their own Torah portions and begin to craft their D'var Torah.
  • Prayer Composition
    • Learners begin to understand prayer on a deeper level and their English and Hebrew meaning
  • Moving Traditions
    • The Moving Traditions curriculum is based in interactive family education sessions and preteen modules:
      • Frame the B'nei Mitzvah experience as the process of “becoming a teen”
      • Foster dialogue between parents and preteens
      • Address the social-emotional needs of 6th and 7th graders
      • Draw on Jewish teachings and ritual to address current issues in the lives of families
    • And more!
